Ines Serra

Spain

Ines Serra currently holds a position as Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience Department of the Erasmus Medical Center. After studying Pharmaceutical Sciences in Portugal and Spain, and doing her in PhD in Neuropharmacology in the UK, she moved to Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, where she now works in the group of Dr. Aleksandra Badura investigating neurodevelopmental disorders.

Although her focus is on the brain, particularly in understanding the consequences of the mTOR pathway genes in brain development, she recently stumbled into the immunology field and started to dive deeper in it. Specifically, some of Ines’ projects look into the intersection between genes causing inborn errors of immunity and neurodevelopmental phenotypes, with a particular interest in activated PI3K delta syndrome (or APDS).
