Dr Anne Barasa (ASID)
Dr Anne Kasyoka Barasa is a Consultant Pathologist and Lecturer at the University of Nairobi Faculty of Health Sciences, where she serves as the Head of the Unit of Immunology within the Department of Human Pathology. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree in 2006, followed by a Master of Medicine (Pathology) in 2012, both from the University of Nairobi. She has a keen interest in primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) and has attended several training workshops to advance her knowledge in this field, including a Diagnostic School by the Clinical Immunology Society in 2019, and an Advanced School by the International Alliance for Primary Immunodeficiency Societies (IAPIDS) in 2020.
Her academic roles involve training both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in Basic Immunology, Immunopathology and Clinical Immunology. Additionally, she provides Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology Consultancy Services at the Kenyatta National Teaching and Referral Hospital. She has been actively involved in raising awareness about PIDs in Kenya, having organized and participated in several workshops and symposia and workshops (A-projects) to this end. She is the President of the African Society for Immunodeficiencies (ASID).
